"Colour Management"
concerns specifying, characterising, creating and controlling the visual
appearance, application properties and performance properties of coloured
materials, objects and images. Examples can often help to clarify meaning
so just look around you. The specification, application and performance
of the fabrics, cosmetics, paints, coatings and inks used to control
the appearance of ourselves and the objects and surroundings in our
everyday life are included.
The principles of
colour management are based on the science and technology of colour
measurement and the unambigous communication of colour information,
whether in conventional form or in a digital colour format. Communciation
that is aided by the use of national and international standard methods
for characterising the appearance of materials.
